What to Expect
For dancers & for parents!

We’re thrilled to welcome you to an unforgettable Press Play experience! Before attending a Press Play event, we recommend checking with your studio for any tips, advice, or specific policies they may have.
If their guidance differs from ours, follow their advice — they know you best!
Here’s a lot of what you need to know to make the most of your week:
The Event
Press Play Nationals is a full week packed with high-energy classes, inspiring competition performances, and unique experiences. You’ll learn from top industry choreographers, connect with dancers from all over the world, and leave energized, motivated, and stronger than ever. Expect a fast-paced, exciting environment with lots of moving parts — be ready to jump into class, perform, cheer on your teammates, and celebrate the art of dance!
What to wear
- Dress for movement and performance — athletic or dancewear you can move comfortably in.
- Style according to the class:
- Jazz/Contemporary: form-fitting dancewear, jazz shoes, socks or bare feet
- Hip-Hop/Jazz Funk: streetwear vibes (sneakers encouraged)
- Ballet: form-fitting dancewear, ballet shoes if you have them! It is not required to wear a leotard and tights, although you are more than welcome to!
- Tap: tap shoes if you have them! Don’t tap? We encourage you to at least try in the back, even without shoes.
- Ballroom: ballroom shoes, heels or whatever you are comfortable in
- Layers are key! Classrooms can be cold or hot depending on the venue.
- Shoes & cover-ups should be worn in public areas of the hotels/venues.
- Ok… we gotta mention that Press Play gear is available at the merch shop if you want to rep Press Play during the day!
